Brewed for us at Northbridge Brewing, four miles east, to a brief of one sentence: it has to cut through pork fat and then get out of the way.
That rules out most of what is interesting about beer. No hops worth discussing, no haze, nothing that lingers. Twenty per cent rice in the grist, fermented cold and long, finishing dry enough to be almost austere on its own. On its own it is unremarkable, which is a fair criticism and also the entire specification.
One size, 330ml, in a glass that lives in the freezer. There are no jugs and no pitchers, because a jug of lager at a fourteen-seat counter is a table of six pretending to be a table of two.
